Open Design Festival starts tonight!

#ODCT2016 is officially open!

Wed 10 August
OD events space,
2nd floor, City Hall
Time: 18:00 – 22:00

It’s here! After months of planning, the 2016 Open Design Festival starts today. We’ve created an incredible programme that forms 12 days of inspiration and innovation, design and discovery. And we can’t wait to share it with you! Let’s get started.

 Come to our party!

If you haven’t yet booked your place at the opening bash, there’s still time. Simply RSVP here, and make your way to City Hall this evening. Bring your friends and colleagues too. Doors open at 17:00, and the party kicks off at 18:00.

As a reminder of what’s planned, we’ve laid on some awesome activities during the night, from doodle sessions to virtual reality, gaming, 3D scanning and our local Maker Station.

And DJs from Cape Audio College, and musicians Banzi Tema and legendary Cape Town-based Mozambican drummer/percussionist Frank Paco Art Ensemble will provide the music.

Tribe Coffee, Red Bull Amaphiko and Eikendal Vineyards will keep you in food and drink all evening. Bring cash, but Snapscan will also be available.

What’s happening when?

City Hall and venues across Cape Town

The Open Design Festival comprises two parts: the City Hall programme, from 10-16 August; and the city-wide programme, from 17-21 August. Check the programme for details of the many workshops, talks, tours, open studios, and interactive experiences taking place during the festival. There’s so much going on, but to simplify things, we’ve created a handy programme on two pages. Download it and browse the clickable links. Or print and go. Keep an eye on our social media platforms, too, for daily updates about what’s on.

Thanks to our partners

Thanks to all who have made #ODCT2016 possible
The 2016 Open Design Festival is the culmination of months of planning and preparation. It’s also the result of support we’ve received from various sponsors and partners. As we kick off this year’s festivities, we want to take a moment to thank everyone who’s been part of the #ODCT2016 journey.
